Some time ago I had a call from Juliet of designers Thornback & Peel enquiring about a sideboard for sale on Winter’s Moon for their soon-to-open shop in London. This initial conversation & sale then led to an order for my last two Parker Knoll vintage armchairs one of which was to be covered in their distinctive ‘Rabbits & Cabbages’ fabric. The large pattern repeat of this fabric was quite a departure to the usual fabrics we use, & caused much discussion between myself & my patient upholsterer. I was really pleased with how the chair turned out as the proportions worked beautifully & it was very well received by Juliet & her team.
I then received an invitation to the official opening of their new shop this week, not one to turn down an invitation, I trekked up there with yard neighbour Shirley of Handprinted & was able to see the chair in situ & their lovely shiny new shop too. It’s in a great area near Bloomsbury & just down the road from Ben Petreath’s store. The interior is a great backdrop of vintage pieces with their distinctive Victoriana inspired prints taking centre stage. It was also great meet Juliet in person finally & the shop was full to bursting of hip London folk & their lovely products…it’s definitely worth a visit!
